Epsom Salt for Acne Home Remedy

Posted by Acne Solutions on Thursday, January 6, 2011

Growing up I used to have the worse acne. I had tried seemingly everything and it simply wouldn't go away. As you may know, acne can be hereditary. My mother also had it growing up. At the time, there weren't many acne treatments in Cuba, and she always swore that what worked for her was applying Epsom salt to the affected areas.
Epsom salt, also known as magnesium sulphate, is used as a drying agent. It is similar to sea salt. You can find it at your local supermarket, and it's really inexpensive. The name dates back hundreds of years to the mineral abundant waters of Epsom, England.
It has a variety of medical uses taken in both oral and topical form. Using Epsom salt for acne though should be used solely as a topical solution. People will often fill up their bathtub and soak in Epsom salt to ease body aches and muscle pain. The same can be used as a treatment for stubborn chest and back acne. It can also be applied to the face by mixing about a tablespoon of it with a cup or two of warm water. Clean your face first before applying the solution. It can be used daily.
I don't know about any medical studies about Epsom salt and acne, but people continue to claim that it works. From personal experience, I can tell you that it really dries up your skin. It did help me. If you've tried other treatments without success, it wouldn't hurt to give it a shot. You can ask your dermatologist what they think.

Get Rid of Pimples Overnight Using This Simple Home Remedy

Posted by Acne Solutions on Tuesday, September 14, 2010

Here's a simple home remedy to get rid of that pimple on your forehead or nose quickly and painlessly. I've used it effectively on pimples on my face and the redness and swelling literally disappears overnight.
First, go and buy a box of green tea from your local supermarket. You can buy either the loose leaf ones or individual teabags. I prefer my ones in the teabags as it's easier to use. Green tea is rich in antioxidants, polyphenols and is used in traditional medicines in many parts of Asia.
Second, boil some water and make yourself a cup of green tea. Drinking the tea won't make the pimple go away overnight but it will boost your body's immune system and help prevent your skin from breaking out. Just 3 to 4 cups of green tea a day will keep your skin pimple free and brighter.
After drinking the tea, don't throw the leaves away. Keep them aside and let it cool down. Once it has cooled down, carefully open the teabag and take some of the tea leaves out. Don't let the leaves dry out. Make sure it is still moist.
Now, apply some of the green tea leaves directly onto the pimple on your face. Keep the leaves in place by using some surgical tape or plaster over the affected area. It's best to do this in the evening before you go to bed. That way, you can keep the green tea leaves on the pimple overnight.
When you wake up the next morning, carefully peel away the plaster or tape. The redness and swelling of the pimple should be greatly reduced.
This green tea therapy also works wonders for acne. Instead of taking the leaves out of the used tea bag, use it to pat your face lightly over the acne area. Do this in the evening before you sleep and you will find the redness and scarring normally associated with acne much reduced.
